Did your soap batter seize on you? This is how you can fix it (it's easy)

In this video I demonstrate how to save a failed or seized soap batch, an experience quite funnily referred to among cold process soap makers as 'Soap on a Stick'! This method presumes there was nothing wrong with your soap recipe, but something (usually a tricky ingredient/fragrance oil or process mistake) caused the soap batter to thicken dramatically, causing it to harden before it could be ...

Hi, It's my first attempt to making soap and it was a disaster!! I tried to follow very carefully all the instructions for your recipe, and when I used an immersion blender, to mix the oils and the lye solution it began to foam. Any ideas as to why this happened? I'm disappointed. :( I want try it again, once I know I did wrong.

Oh dear! I have never come across that before. I honestly don't know what caused that. Seems very unusual and unlikely if the ingredients were correct and just fats and sodium hydroxide lye.

I've just got a heap of rosemary from a local crop swap and won't have enough time to infuse the rosemary in the oil until I come back home in a fortnight. I'll have to freeze it and hope it still works. Thanks for another wonderful and informative video Elly. You're a legend for sharing. Have a great day. (Oh and I've seen the rebatch of this soap, typical, I put the cart before the horse). X

Hello Elly. I think I watched all the liquid soap related videos and I don't remember seeing anything about making body wash soap. I keep my Dove unscented 2 liters pump empty bottles in the hope that someday I will be able to make something at home that will fill them up. The idea is really to stop using single use plastics by making my own in large quantities. I wonder if you could make a video about making liquid soaps with a creamy texture.
